Busy, busy day yesterday despite the craptastic weather we had here! Hubs and I started the day off with a local 5k called the USA 5k where donations received benefitted the American Heart Association in the name of Robert L. Kearnan, as well as Project Undercover who provide necessities - clean underwear, socks, and diapers - to kids living in poverty. So awesome, right?
But one of my favorite parts of the day is backyard fireworks show! And these guys don't mess around. Yes, they're illegal here in Mass. No, we don't care :)
The family pitches in hundreds of dollars for a pretty impressive stash of fireworks. So much so, that we've had years where we've had a bunch leftover for the next year. I know, pretty great, right? :)
Wellpppp, this year, we had a bit of a mishap.
This year, the guys jimmy-rigged a staging area fitted with tubes for the big boomers, tied together to go off in succession....finished off with masking tape (I shit you not). Ever see what happens when one of those fireworks fall over and goes off sideways??

How 'bout blow out the bottom instead of the top? Maybe knock over all the other fireworks and set them off in the wrong direction??

Yea, that was fun hahahaha NOT. It was a bit scary, but luckily, we didn't have any serious injuries; everyone left with their fingers and toes and faces intact. And overall, we left pretty happy, so another successful July 4th in the books for us *YAY*.
So, what about you? What kind of fun traditions and shenanigans do you and your family and friends get into during 4th of July weekend?
