5K and Tri to Crush Cancer

Earlier today, the hubs and I got to participate in a local 5K for a wonderful cause - the 3rd Annual Malia 5k & Tri to Crush Cancer For Kids' Sake Foundation. You may have even heard of it before this post because there are events held all over the country to benefit this charity, and to bring awareness to neuroblastoma, a cancerous tumor that develops from nerve tissue most commonly diagnosed in infants and children.

Malia Dakota Jusczyk was sweet and carefree 2 1/2 year old little girl when she was diagnosed with this type of childhood cancer back in April of 2011. Through several rounds of chemo, surgeries and blood transfusions, her little body was able to fight back and was said to be in remission as of July 2012. The foundation not only helps fund research for neuroblastoma, it helps out other families and children in need of support in covering the many costs insurance doesn't cover, not to mention, travel, lodging and other things that add up quickly and can financially burden them.
