Minimoon.... part 2

The hubs and I finally got hitched last June, but had a staycation minimoon due to all the family that traveled from out of state to be in town for our big day. We had family here from all over - California, Texas, Florida, Virginia, and Georgia! Not to mention the closer states of Rhode Island and Connecticut.

We pretty much partied all week long, soaking up the sun for as long as it shone and grilled out for practically every meal. I highly recommend this kind of minimoon for two reasons - the first one being the celebratory high you're still cruising on after partying your ass off on your wedding day continues to carry you until the end of the week and it's AMAZING! And two, you have the opportunity to get your marriage license and all other official and name changing crap over with in a day versus bugging off another day after you return to work.

So, that was part one, but what did we do on part two of our minimoon? Well, due to some extenuating circumstances, we kept it kind of local and by local, I mean within the country - San Diego, California to be exact. And man, oh man, was it GORGEOUS.

So gorgeous in fact, the hubs never wanted to leave! He was already talking about the kinds of jobs he'd be able to go for when we moved out there. WHEN, not IF! Obviously, I had to be the voice of reason here, but wow, if there was ever a moment I wanted to throw caution to the wind so badly, that was it.

We stayed at this great hotel that was right on Mission Bay. It was spectacular. You couldn't beat the view - we walked out to the beach!

They even did these little cruises nightly across the bay to their sister hotel which was pretty cool. Our place was about a block away from the beautiful Mission Beach and Belmont Park, the same block we got some great late night Mexican and where I got this sweet little tattoo!

Partly to commemorate the trip, and partly to finally have a permanent symbol of my love and appreciation for music. I had been wanting to do it for a while, so I figure - why not now, right?

There were endless places to go and see... and we did as much as we could! I don't even think I could rank any of them either because they pretty much all tie for the top spot. But there is one that I'd like to highlight and that is the NAMI 5k Walk / Run we signed up for which stands for the National Alliance for Mental Illness.

We had made a pact to try and do one 5k a month, preferably one that benefits a great cause, and didn't want to miss out just because we were on vacation so we had lucked out on finding this one so close to where we were staying. It was a special year for this organization, too, as they were celebrating their 10 year anniversary and the first year they would be offering a run instead of just a walk. If you'd like to learn more about this wonderful organization, click on the link or photo above.

After we hit that early in the week, we ventured out and sampled a plethora of culinary delights -

And many, many more treats, but you get the idea! We ate like champs and regret none of it, and that included our last day in SD where we ate at one final spot - the outdoor breakfast place at the end of our street on Mission Beach.

Goodbye, SD! It's been real fun and we don't actually want to leave, but our home back east is calling our names. See you again soon!
